ARTIST STATEMENT

My name is John Ferrie and I am an artist from Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.  I am a painter. My Art is bold and strong with a myriad of bright colours and solid imagery.  I paint everything from flowers and drag queens to celebrities and found objects. My paintings range in size from 6 in. x 6 in. to 7 ft. x 12 ft. with every size in between.  My work is about beauty, colour, energy and life. I paint with enamel and acrylic paint, latex, urethane and powdered pigments.

I studied at the Emily Carr College of Art and Design in Vancouver, where I graduated with a diploma in fine arts in 1988. Since then I have exhibited my work over 75 times.  I have shown my art across Canada, in the United States, Hong Kong and France. My art has loaned itself to several public installations including the Robson Street Banners.  I have also created images for AIDS Vancouver and World Aids Day. I now operate my own gallery where I exhibit my work twice a year (see exhibition page).
